Why I assassinated Mahatama Gandhi

In the recent elections Pragya Singh Thakur claimed that Godse was a ‘deshabhaktha’. Yes, but in a criminal way, no doubt. Our film star Kamal Haasan from TN called him a terrorist. Haasan should know the difference between an ‘assassin and terrorist by now. The word ‘Hindu Terror” used by commonly by DV Singh and Chidambaram lead me to this book.

The book is the printed full version of the final affidavit placed before the Trial court on 8th November 1948 by Nathuram Godse, the assassin of Mahatma Gandhi: It also contains a description of the events, the accused and the epilogue by his brother and fellow accused, Gopal Godse.

Years later, in his autobiography, Justice Khosla who presided over the trial court observed ; had those present in the court room been constituted into a jury, he had no doubt that they would have acquitted Nathuram Godse ." So powerful & compelling is the statement.

By his own admission Nathuram was guilty of premeditated murder and sought no leniency for his crime. When one reads this extraordinary testament, one is lead to the inescapable conclusion that while he was guilty of the crime.

This is an extraordinary document, and more Indians must read it to get the full perception of the scenario. Many libraries have the book.
